Jeff Bardin

Jeff Bardin has held Top Secret clearances while breaking codes & ciphers & performing Arabic language translations serving in the USAF and at the NSA, and also served as an Armored Scout Platoon Leader and Army Officer.  He has worked in leadership positions (CIO/CISO/CSO) Fortune 100 organizations.  Jeff also has international experience in the greater Mediterranean region and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Jeff was awarded the 2007 RSA Conference award for Excellence in the Field of Security Practices.  The Bardin-led security team also won the 2007 SC Magazine Award for Best Security Team.  Jeff has served as the CSO/CISO for Fortune 1000 firms and currently is an independent consultant for Treadstone 71.  Jeff has published several articles, is working to publish his first book, and sits on several information security advisory boards.  Jeff holds CISSP, CISM and NSA IAM certifications.

 

Dennis Devlin

Dennis Devlin is currently Chief Information Security Officer at Brandeis University.  He has over 35 years of information technology leadership experience in private industry and higher education.  Prior to his current role Dennis was Vice President and Chief Security Officer of The Thomson Corporation, a member of the senior IT management team at Harvard University, and began his career as a software developer and systems analyst for American Hoechst Corporation.

Dennis is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and has completed extensive continuing education in information technology and management.  He has been a frequent presenter on information security at universities and conferences including the RSA Security Conference, SC Magazine US Forum and Gartner IT Security Summit.  Dennis has also served on CSO advisory boards for RSA, Qualys, Verdasys, GeoTrust and SC Magazine.

 

Howard A. Schmidt

Howard A. Schmidt has had a long distinguished career in defense, law enforcement and corporate security spanning almost 40 years.  He has served as Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Security Strategist for online auction giant eBay.  He most recently served in the position of Chief Security Strategist for the US CERT Partners Program for the National Cyber Security Division, Department of Homeland Security.

Mr. Schmidt also serves as the international president of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and was the first president of the Information Technology Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC).  He is a former executive board member of the International Organization of Computer Evidence, and served as the co-chairman of the Federal Computer Investigations Committee.  He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Scientists.  He had served as a board member for the CyberCrime Advisory Board of the National White Collar Crime Center, and was a distinguished special lecturer at the University of New Haven, CT, teaching a graduate certificate course in forensic computing.

Mr. Schmidt holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration (BSBA) and a master’s degree in organizational management (MAOM) from the University of Phoenix.  He also holds an Honorary Doctorate degree in Humane Letters.  Howard is a Professor of Practice at GA Tech, GTISC, Professor of Research at Idaho State University and Adjunct Senior Fellow with Carnegie Mellon’s CyLab.

 

Richard J. Hansberger

Rich Hansberger is the National Notary Association's Vice President of eNotarization and is responsible for leading the Association's technology-related initiatives, working with state government and private industry partners to incorporate electronic notarization into business and government applications.  In this role, he launched the United States' first electronic notarization program with the states of Pennsylvania and Arizona in 2006-7.  Since then, the program has expanded to 37 states and major US corporations.  Currently, Mr. Hansberger sits on the board of the non-profit National eNotary Registry, a 501(c)(6) corporation that will serve as the Association’s national Registration Authority for the management of electronic Notary credentials.

Prior to joining the NNA, Hansberger taught at California State University, Northridge, and the University of Arizona while earning his PhD in English and Education.  In addition to authoring articles on the then-emerging field of distance learning technology and the ancient discipline of rhetoric, he wrote state and federal grants to fund the development of distance-learning technologies in the late 1990s, primarily in the form of open-source toolkits for colleges and universities licensed under the GNU General Public License.  He has consulted with numerous companies and universities on the development of enterprise online learning environments.  Hansberger continues to be active in open-source initiatives, and his most recent open-source collaboration is with The Hague Conference on Private International Law developing an open-source electronic register to support the electronic Apostille Pilot Program (www.e-app.info).

Currently a third year law student, he plans to practice in the area of technology and notarial law for the National Notary Association.
